About Me

My first year as a nurse was an adventure to say the least. I made mistakes, shed tears and worked shifts I was sure would not end. I remember thinking quite a bit, “I am definitely not in school anymore”. But along the way, I learned, grew and discovered the power and value in my role. I noticed how much the patients depended on my colleagues and I to care for them. I also noticed that while I certainly needed practice with hands-on skills, I had some natural skills like compassion and listening that made all the difference in my practice! So with that, I have a desire to see students and new graduates not only recognize their natural skills, but also blossom into energetic, committed and passionate caregivers, on fire to make differences in the lives of their patients.

I love motivating others to live their best lives! I’ve spent some time teaching biblical courses at my church and what I love most about it is watching the excitement come to my students when they’ve been inspired. I have a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and currently practice as a certified pediatric nurse in Atlanta, GA. For several years now, I’ve had the privilege of being asked to precept nursing students and new graduates. It’s the best! On so many occasions I’ve watched the confidence boost happen as students and new grads realize, “I can do this”!. To be able to provide guidance and have colleagues remember me as their preceptor has made my job all the more gratifying.  In 2010, I was presented a hospital-wide award by the CEO for demonstrating the organizations core values: excellence, integrity, nurturing, respect and teamwork. I love caring for my patients, bright days, laughing with my colleagues and spending time with my family. Most of all, I love being a nurse! It has given me joy, laughter and a sense of teamwork and purpose on so many occasions. My hope is to show others just what makes nursing so unique .
